Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can SCS deliver my animal(s) to more than one processor?
A: Yes! If you or your customers prefer more than one processor, we do our best to accommodate.

Q: Can customers pick up their animal(s) on the day of slaughter?
A: Absolutely! On-farm pickups are common. We simply ask that all customers are on time, prepared, and have the proper means of transport for their meat.

Q: Can SCS dispose of byproducts?
A: Yes. We offer optional byproduct disposal services (heads, hides, and viscera).

Disposal fees:

  • $10 per pig
  • $10 per sheep
  • $20 per beef
  • $25 per bull

Feed Withholding Requirement
Beef should be removed from feed approximately 48 hours prior to harvest. This allows the animal to clear its rumen and ensures safe, efficient handling.

We do not dispose of full rumen contents due to weight and volume restrictions. If feed is not withheld, rumen contents will be emptied in the field prior to transport.

If you prefer to retain byproducts on-site and would like them loaded into a loader bucket, truck bed, or designated area, please have that equipment available so we can integrate that into our workflow.

Our Waste Policy
SCS Mobile Slaughter operates under a two-part waste handling standard:

  • Touch it once
  • Remove the hay where it lay

This ensures efficiency, cleanliness, and respect for your property.

Q: What are the expectations of the livestock owner?
A: To ensure a smooth and safe process, we ask that you:

  1. Have animals penned and easily accessible to the mobile unit before we arrive.
  2. Confirm your processing date with your preferred meat processor.
  3. Have customer names and phone numbers (if applicable) so we can tag each carcass correctly.
  4. Withhold Feed 24 hours prior to slaughter for pigs/sheep. 48 hours prior for beef.
  • When possible;
  • Keep animals scheduled for slaughter in a separate pen from others not being harvested
  • Provide SCS slaughter-man with a small bucket of feed/hay.
